Overview#
Smart Flow is similar to Money Flow but is built to detect the activity of smart money, large institutional or professional traders. It helps you see when these major market players are accumulating (buying) or distributing (selling) assets. By tracking smart money, you can gain insight that standard indicators often miss. Like Money Flow, this tool is adaptive, learns over time, and gives you a clear view of market dynamics, so you can align your trades with institutional activity.

Settings#
You can set up the Smart Flow settings to focus on the institutional activity that matters most to your strategy.

| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Smart Flow | Turns the statistical smart money detection on or off. When on, it shows institutional accumulation and distribution patterns. |
| Smart Flow Sensitivity | Sets the sensitivity of the smart money detection. A lower number is more sensitive to short-term institutional activity. A higher number is less sensitive, focusing on longer-term smart money flows. |
| Smart Flow Filter | Sets how strong a signal needs to be before it shows. It only shows one direction at a time. A lower number is less strict, showing signals with medium confidence. A higher number is more strict and needs stronger evidence before showing a signal. |
Best Practices & Usage#
- Trade with institutions: Use Smart Flow to see the direction that large traders are taking. Aligning your trades with smart money can raise the probability of a successful trade.
- Spot divergences: Look for times when the price moves in one direction but Smart Flow moves the opposite way. For example, if the price makes new highs but bearish Smart Flow appears, it can warn of a potential reversal.
- Combine with Money Flow: Use both Money Flow and Smart Flow together. If both show the same direction (for example, both bullish), it points to a strong, high-confidence signal that the general market and smart money agree.
- Filter for higher-quality signals: As with Money Flow, use higher filter and sensitivity settings if you only want to act on the clearest signs of institutional activity.
